WELCOME TO ROADRUNNER TOWING

WHAT IS A ROTATOR?

A rotator wrecker is one of the heaviest and the largest Wrecker available. While some certain types of heavy-duty wreckers feature a fixed boom, others have rotating parts. The rotator wrecker is equipped crane-like boom. Since the rotator wrecker is one of the heaviest and the largest of all wreckers, it is commonly used in accidents that involve heavy vehicles such as large trucks and tractor trailers. Our rotator has the capacity to lift up to 50 tons. So, it is no surprise that these types of trucks are frequently used for heavy duty towing.

Types of Rotator Services

Specific tasks needs specific tools. This also applies to all towing services. The Rotator has specific abilities vs. your conventional tow truck. If you're not sure what type of wrecker you need though, feel free to contact Roadrunner Towing at (210) 658-8610 and ask our staff.

Towing from Embankment

Vehicles sometimes end up behind guard rails or down in ditches making it tough to safely recover them back to the road for towing. These are the situations when a rotator wrecker comes in handy. It is usually called upon to tow vehicles from places they cannot usually get out of, such as a ditch. The boom of these trucks can rotate 360 degrees and can easily extend a height of about 41 feet and extend out over 20feet, which means it is better suited than most other types of wreckers to handle difficult roadside situations.

Recoveries from Freeways

Accidents on freeways are quite common. Often, doing recoveries on freeways require the police to shut down different lanes of traffic (if not the entire freeway) for the wrecker to do their job. In such situations, using a rotator tow truck is highly beneficial as it requires a relatively smaller area to upright or winch trucks/equipment back to the road safely and efficiently. Since you can rotate the boom of the rotator tow truck, it fits the requirements of various jobs. Furthermore, it also works parallel to the wreck which means more lanes of the freeway will remain open, hence some of the traffic disruption will be eliminated.

In conclusion, the advantages of rotator wrecker are numerous. There are several situations where using these trucks would be an ideal choice.
